SI Swim Model Ashley Callingbull Discusses CFL Diversity and Change
Ashley Callingbull is a well-known advocate for Indigenous peoples and has always been one to break glass barriers.
She is a proud member of the Enoch Cree Nation in Alberta, which is located in the province of Alberta.
She made history in 2022 when she was included in the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated, becoming the first Indigenous First Nations woman to do so.
Despite the fact that this was a very visible accomplishment, the majority of her work as an advocate for First Nations takes place behind the scenes.
Callingbull is currently employed as an in-game host for Canadian Football League games, most specifically with the Edmonton Elks.
Recently, Callingbull took part in the Canadian Football League's (CFL) "Diversity Is Strength" panel,
where she extended her appeal for the league to prioritize diversity and inclusion.
She highlighted the trip in an Instagram post on August 17th, during which she talked about her experience with the Elks in particular.
