That's what I have to accept if I'm going to be World No 1 Iga Swiatek on being a target after winning the WTA Tour

Iga Swiatek has stated that she is well aware of the fact that other players on the WTA Tour will put in more effort to compete against her as a result of her position as the highest-ranked woman on the tour.

The Polish player remarked that it was something that she has accepted about herself ever since she became the number one player in the world.

Since she ascended to the top spot on the rankings lists, Swiatek has been virtually unbeatable on the WTA Tour.

She has won three Majors in addition to a myriad of other trophies. Her performance on the tour has been especially impressive when compared to that of some of the tour's greatest players, like Coco Gauff.

Swiatek faced Gauff in the semifinals of the 2023 Cincinnati Open on Saturday. Swiatek had a head-to-head record of 7-0 against Gauff at the time of the match.

She had an unbelievable 14 set wins and had never dropped a set to the American opponent.

The tides changed against Swiatek at the Western and Southern Open, as Gauff battled back from a set down to claim a hard-fought victory by scores of 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4 and move on to her first-ever WTA 1000 final.

Swiatek noted, during a press conference that followed the match, that she was aware of how Gauff and others eye a win against her as a result of their interviews and press engagements with the media.
